Born in Zambia and shaped by a childhood in the Netherlands, Wilbert Arends has spent nearly three decades living and working across Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond. Every chapter brought a new landscape worth remembering.

Today, Wilbert calls Calgary, Alberta home — nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, one of the most breathtaking corners of the world. It is here, between the demands of a career as CFO and Vice-President at the University of Calgary, that the camera comes out. Early mornings chasing aurora borealis over mountain peaks. Frozen winter light on a quiet lake. The abstract geometry of ice and frost that most people walk right past.

His approach to leadership mirrors his approach to photography — Wilbert believes that creativity and innovation thrive when driven by relevant research, and that exploration is the foundation for education.
